Wyrley Girls Academy first match.

Wyrley’s latest crop of high potential girls played their first match tonight against our Under 10s Pumas in a very friendly friendly at Landywood School.
Despite only 2 of the girls ever playing a competitive match before, you couldn’t tell as they competed for the ball right across the park.
Fine defensive performances were seen from Sophie Williams, Leah Drury, Molly McGuinness and Chloe Jones. The midfield of Molly Ashman, Olivia Edwards and Alicia Ward were tigerish in the tackle and very inventive in their forward play. Ella Spears found the space at will with excellent movement.
The result was secondary as it was the experience we were after BUT to lose only 2 – 1 – the goal coming from the penalty spot from Ashman – was a magnificent effort!

Well done girls – the future of Wyrley’s girls section is bright! Thanks to Tim and his girls for providing excellent competition.
