To give support to the FA Respect Campaign, we have organised the following courses, available to Wyrley Juniors Managers, Coaches, Players and Parents: –
Linesman Course – Sunday 24th May 10.00 to 12.00. Venue – Gt. Wyrley Performing Arts High School.
This course has been organised to help support those parents who are usually ‘thrown’ into the role of Assistant Referee – usually because no one else will do it! Without them, the game could not exist and this course will help to support individuals. I would hope that we will get at least 15 attendees. The cost of the course is £10.00 per person and will be a practical session, carried out on the pitch.
Referees Course – 8 weeks course, every Thursday Night 7.00 – 9.00, commencing June 4th. Venue – Gt. Wyrley Performing Arts High School
This is a course given by Staffs FA Referee Co-ordinators – at the end of the course attendees will be qualified to referee matches (and earn money in doing so!). The cost is £45 (for 14 and 15 year olds); £65 (for 16 and 17 year olds); £77 (for 18+).
Referee ‘Try it Yourself’ taster session. 22nd May 6.30 to 9.00. Venue Cheslyn Hay performing Arts College (or if unavailable Gt. Wyrley Performing Arts High School)
Have you got a player or a parent who moans at every decision. Are you a coach who would like to see them ‘have a go themselves’? This is an opportunity for you or them to attend a FREE session to referee for a half or all of a mini soccer game. We are to organise 3 pitches with hopefully 9 of our mini soccer teams playing 2 matches. We will therefore have 9 matches for 9 or 18 ‘referees’ to attempt to referee a game. At the end of each session, the players will give feedback on his performance; the referee will give feedback how he felt it went and a Referee Assessor will give an honest assessment too! This will give individuals an insight to the difficulty of the role and hopefully give them a taste to take a referees course.
I am looking for a good response to the above initiative as we should be doing all that we can to support the Respect Campaign.
