Why do I play football?….

There are many posts on other Grassroots pages sparking a debate around why shouldn’t football be ‘competitive’ from a younger age than currently.
Without passing any judgement, we will remind everyone of our own research we did, with the help of Staffordshire FA, 5 years ago.
Have a watch of this video and make your own mind up.
The task we gave 12 of our players (aged between 9 and 12), in pairs, was ‘ Why do you play football football?’
They were given 15 reasons and had to choose 10 and then rank them in order.
Interestingly, ‘To Win’ was not chosen in the top 10 reasons…
We enjoyed doing the video and will be looking to do something similar with a different topic soon.
And awww – some of those players are still with us and coaching too!
Press play…
