Travelling down the motorway to Kings Norton in the cold n the wind n the rain to be ready for a 10 am kick off, is not many people’s idea of a fun sat morning, but the 11 troopers from wyrley turned out anyway.
It took 6 mins for Leanne to get on the score sheet, when she collected a lovely cross from Sophie and slipped it past the keeper 0-1. 18 mins Kelly ran through from midfield and placed it past the keeper 0-2. 28 mins Sophie showed her intent to 3 defenders and beat them all 0-3. 35 mins Lauren safely collects the ball and sends to forward to Leanne to chip their keeper (goes down as an assist to Lauren) 0-4. 37 mins Leanne looking for her hat trick drilled the ball into the bottom left 0-5. Alvechurch were constantly pressing to break down wyrleys’ defence, but Jody, Charlie, Ash and Sarah were a solid force to be reckoned with and left them with long range shots which Lauren had no difficulty with (this week).
The 2nd half started at a slower pace due to the pitch being very muddy, it took til 68 mins for wyrley to break down Alvechurchs defence, with Kelly who chipped the keeper 0-6. 70 mins Sam smashed a shot goal wards only to see it parried to Sophie to tap home 0-7. 75 mins Kelly with a super run through and megged the keeper for her hat trick 0-8. Midfield of Tash, Kelly, Chelsea and Sam were attacking and battling for every ball. Alvechurch did not give up possession easily and tackled hard when required (ask Jody or Chelsea who both had to spend time off the pitch). 82 mins Sam sent in a super cross for Sophie to tap in for her hat trick 0-9. 83mins Jody made a fine run up the wing from defence rounded the Alvechurch defence and chipped the ball into the keeper’s arms. 85 mins Soph passed to Jody who fell over leaving Leanne to smash at keeper who dropped it for Jody to tap in 0-10. 87 mins Kelly fed the ball to Leanne to slot home for her 4th 0-11. 89 mins Kelly crossed the ball for Sophie to crack home her 4th 0-12.
Full marks again for an impressive performance under difficult conditions, the score line may read like a one sided game but Alvechurch gave a solid performance and ran til the very end.
Next game home to Bilbrook 10.30am.
