A 2nd successive hattrick from Jack Hems saw Wyrley on their way against St John’s but they had to come from behind after gifting Colts an opener following a lack of communication from a throw in allowed St johns to break and cross and finished completely unchallenged.
Wyrley huffed and puffed early on with Jack Snoddy in the thick of the action but they failed to adapt to the tiny pitch and often overhit passes or through balls or were caught in possession.
The 2nd half saw Wyrley play with greater tempo and Ben Lockley’s stunning volley from the edge of the box shortly after half time sealed the game as a contest and it was a matter of how many they could score. Jack Hems completed his treble with a surging run and finish before Ethan Richardson’s scuffed effort deceived the otherwise faultless St John’s keeper. Kai Reeve went close with a number of efforts but was unable to find a way through whilst Jack Robinson, Archie Tonks and Louie Reynolds were defended well infront of the impressive Reece Duckers.
A workmanlike performance with plenty of room for improvement, particularly in the final 3rd where better finishing would of resulted in a much greater margin of victory.
