Wyrley LK09 v Silverdale Saints
This was to be a re-match from our draw last week so we were playing for a win this time and we were not disappointed. Within the first few minutes Silverdale had scored but soon after a pass from Matty to Harvey we had equalised the score. Another chance by Tom was just short and Keane kept on his man in midfield. A cracking goal and his second, Harvey put us in the lead just before half time.
A cross from Harvey to Keane and a chance by Allan nearly kept us firmly in the lead and goal line technology would have probably been useful at one point ! There was a great header by Harry and Harvey took a free kick after a handball by Silverdale. Another header by Harvey, which is great to see as it was what was being practiced in training the Friday before ! Silverdale equalised which put us on even score but within the last few minutes of the game Allan came along after a corner by Harvey and put another goal in the back of the net. A win for us !
Man of the match: Matty
Wyrley LK09 v Pelsall Villa Colts
We had lost in the past to Pelsall so we knew this was going to be a tough game. A corner by Pelsall was saved by goalie Logan early on in the game. There was a great turn by Tom to take the ball down the field over the half way line to pass to Matty for him to take on the goalie but unfortunately missed the goal. A chance by Harvey hit the crossbar. We were having lots of chances as were Pelsall, but these were being saved by our goalie Logan. It was only after a free kick was given for a foul that Pelsall managed to score the one and only goal of the game. Lewis kept on his man pushing him out. There were chances by Matty, Allan and Harvey and some great crossing by Tom just before the half time whistle.
We continued to apply the pressure in the second half with some great diving by Logan to prevent any further goals for Pelsall. Pelsall were given another free kick for a foul but this time it went over the net. A corner by Keane to Tom nearly went in. Luke had a few chances to run with the ball but was unfortunately prevented by Pelsall. In the last few minutes of the game Keane had two shots at the goal but the post and crossbar got in the way ! A pass from Luke to Tom gave us our last chance but we just couldn’t get that equaliser ! Even though it was a loss the lads were on top form and kept going right down to the final whistle. Well done to you all.
Man of the Match: Logan
