SPORTSCO HARRIERS V WYRLEY PANTHERS
15TH NOVEMBER 2015
It was a cold, wet and windy Sunday morning in Sutton Coldfield.
We pulled up to the pitch eager to put right last weeks defeat,
Sportsco Harriers were already training, ready to defend their unbeaten season.
After our warm up, the manager’s (Ian, Ding & IB) told us to gather round, “OK boys” said Ian “do you want to win this game?” “YES BOSS!!” we all shouted. We were all told the most important thing this morning was to keep a clean sheet.
It all went quiet before kick off then there was an almighty roar!
“1, 2, 3, PANTHERS!!!!” we all cried as loud as we could!
We were all ready to get the game started!
We started off well, attack after attack, with myself (Tank), Harvey, Scotty, & J.R. (Josh Reynolds) in midfield, supplying the passes to Whizza and Tommy up front, who were bombarding the Harriers defence. The goalkeeper made a few good saves, but it didn`t take us long to take the lead, Tommy took it past the last 2 defenders with a great finish into the bottom right hand corner. Not long after the first goal went in, Whizza scored our second with an amazing bit of individual skill.
The referee blew the whistle for half time, we had all worked hard, so a few minutes rest and a drink is what we needed.
“Keep up the good work boys!” “Get me a clean sheet!” said Ian.
Putting pressure on our ever reliable defence (George and Rio).
The second half continued as the first half had finished, we knew we had to keep composure and keep working hard if we were to win with a clean sheet. The manager made some substitutions bringing the hard working Ashton into the game along with Josh Mason who made some important tackles.
Another goal came from Tommy and then Harvey smashed one past the goalkeeper. J.R. who also scored and had an amazing game, putting plenty of tackles in, enabling us to keep possession so we could start our next attack.
We should have had a penalty when Ashton was ploughed down in the box, but the referee somehow missed it.
The Harriers were all working hard and took some good free kicks, but some excellent goal keeping from Louis kept us our clean sheet.
Everyone worked really hard and we got a well deserved 0 – 5 win.
The man of the match awards were given to Tommy Simpkin & Josh Reynolds.
The managers, parents and players were happy and most importantly the Chairman was happy, asking “Did I win a trophy?”
Job Done! Roll on next week!!!
