Wyrley Panthers v Wyrley Tigers Friendly Match
Another two brilliant performances from the boys produced two great wins.
Another hard fought victory over their close rivals the Tigers was deserved following a good finish from Ben ‘Whizza’ Herrington, who appears to enjoy scoring against his school mates.
The heroics of Jo Timmins kept the Tigers in the game and the Tigers nearly drew level late on but the Panthers were saved by keeper Louis Beesley who denied the Tiger’s attacker brilliantly.
Another good game between the two Wyrley teams, where both teams tried to play football and the Club Chairman would have been proud of both teams’ performances.
Well done to Man of the Match Louis Beesley for his important save late on.
Wyrley Panthers v Continental Star Friendly Match
The boys were clinging on at half time having been outplayed for the entire first half. However, the lads showed true strength of character to come out in the second half and completely blitz their opposition in the way that they did.
A huge credit goes to the midfield trio of Louis Beesley, Josh ‘Smasher’ Mason and Ben ‘Tank’ Maginness who all defended well in the first half but used their attacking talents brilliantly in the second half. A special mention must go to the outstanding Tank, who had a hand in all three goals and was completely unplayable in the second half of the game. He scored the opening goal and it was his lung-busting, box-to-box runs and crosses that setup two further goals for Ashton ‘Goals’ Cooper to finish in style.
Man of the Match went to Tank for one of the best central midfield performances I have ever seen.
It was especially pleasing to see the togetherness of the boys during the second game to stick with what they were doing and getting themselves back into a game that had looked, during the first half, beyond them.
